Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court has remanded the murder case of the Emirati lawyer ‘Al Dhanahani’ in which three persons including the victim’s wife face charges of premeditated murder.

The case has been postponed until December 30 as the victim’s wife did not appear before the court during the hearing, while the other suspects denied all charges.

The session was chaired by Judge Dr Mohammad Al Kharti.

The lawyer of the victim’s wife requested the bench to allow her bail so she can look after her kids. He also revealed all heirs have waived their rights in the retribution.

The 54-year-old Emirati lawyer was found dead in his car after the vehicle plunged into the Dafta valley, south of Ras Al Khaimah city on May 21.

After a weeklong investigation, Ras Al Khaimah Police took the three accused — the Emirati woman, an Emirati man and a Pakistani driver — into custody.

It was initially thought the man had died from an insulin overdose, but forensic tests revealed he died from injuries sustained in the car crash. Police found a fracture to the backbone of the deceased.

During questioning, the victim’s wife denied any involvement in the crime, while her two accomplices admitted they were involved with her in killing the man.

Investigations suggested the deceased and his wife who lived in Fujairah along with their children, used to quarrel frequently.

On the day of the crime police said the wife put sleeping pills in her husband’s meal, locked up their children in their rooms upstairs, closed all the windows and curtains and turned off all lights in the house. She then allowed her Emirati accomplice to enter the house through a side door.

During questioning the wife revealed she gave her husband insulin injections and with the other man’s help carried his body to the living room to show that his death was normal. Later, she changed her mind and decided to put his body in a car and send it crashing into the valley.

According to police she paid Dh100,000 to the Emirati accomplice to get rid of her husband.

The charges have yet to be verified in court.

According to the charges, the three accused placed the man in his car and the Pakistani driver drove it to the Dafta valley. There the victim was tied up and placed in the driver’s seat before the car was sent plunging into the valley.

The woman admitted to police that she had attempted to get rid of her husband on several occasions.
