Dubai: Dubai becomes the first Arab city to host the 19th International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Annual Conference as Dubai Public Prosecution [DPP] organises the event under the theme ‘Best Prosecution Practice: Learning From Each Other’ on Monday.

DPP will showcase its achievements to almost 500 participants at the 19th IAP conference that attorney-generals, public prosecutors and representatives of legal entities from 156 countries will attend between November 24 and 27.

“Excellence in the work of public prosecutors and legal work is part of our vision to enhance the role of law and justice in Dubai in accordance with Excellence in International Performance. This vision has gained for us, in a short time, the international community’s confidence…which has now been reflected in being asked to host this worldwide conference for the first time in an Arab country,” said Dubai’s Attorney-General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan.

The IAP Annual Conference will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

DPP will discuss ‘achieving excellence in prosecution service delivery’ through strategic planning, implementation of quality and performance standards and optimum organisational structure, giving examples of innovative and effective initiatives, according to Al Humaidan.

DPP has been allotted a seat on the board of directors of the Association, thus becoming an active member of the Board that held its first meetings over the weekend, he added.

The four-day conference will discuss training development and performance appraisal of public prosecutors, use of technology in prosecution services, and dealing with youth offenders, which all are top priority topics for public prosecutions around the world.
