Ras Al Khaimah: A 48-year-old man has been given a life sentence for raping his 20-year-old daughter twice. Both assaults took place after she received marriage proposals.
The sentence was handed out by the Ras Al Khaimah criminal court. A judiciary official told Gulf News that the Asian man’s act warranted a “very harsh punishment” as he had raped his daughter, which made the crime “more abominable” and it was against Islamic values.
The case dates back to May when the 20-year-old disclosed her ordeal to officials and a case was filed against her father. She said that her father, identified as M.Kh.Dh., raped her for the first time in their home country. A man wanted to marry her but her father told her he was not suitable. The woman did marry but her marriage did not last long. Her father then brought her to stay with him in Ras Al Khaimah.
During her stay another man came to ask to marry her but her father rejected him too and raped his daughter again.
The man told police that he was unaware of his actions as he was having a diabetic episode at the time.
The court, while sentencing him, said the victim must never have dreamt that the man whom she considered her protector would turn out to be a monster.
The man’s lawyer said he will appeal the case against his client and the medical reports showed no evidence of rape.
