Sharjah/Dibba,Fujairah: Three people, including a 14-year-old girl, were killed and two people were injured on Sunday in five separate road accidents.

The teenager was crossing the road after being dropped off by her school bus. She sustained serious head injuries and died at 7pm.

The victim was reportedly crossing at an undesignated area in Al Akamyah opposite her home at noon when the vehicle driven by an Emirati woman hit her. She was taken to Dibba Hospital and later moved to Fujairah Hospital.

The woman and bus driver were taken in for questioning by police.

Meanwhile, a 36-year–old Ethiopian woman died on the spot after falling under her company bus.

The incident took place on Al Marqab Road at 4.05pm. It later transpired the woman, T.S., was an illegal resident.

It is believed the woman jumped from the bus before it had come to a stop. She fell under the bus but the driver was unaware she was there. Her body was moved to Kuwaiti Hospital morgue.

The bus driver is in police custody undergoing questioning.

In another incident, a 31-year-old Asian man died after being hit by a car while on the American University of Sharjah campus.

According to a police source, the Nepali victim, identified as D.T., a restaurant delivery man, was hit by a speeding car which belonged to a student. The car had Sharjah licence plates.

The accident took place at around 2.30pm. The delivery man died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Kuwaiti Hospital.

The driver has been taken into police custody on the campus for questioning.

Meanwhile, two pedestrians, including a child, are receiving hospital treatment after being run over by speeding cars. The child was run over in Al Qasaba. A probe into the incident is under way. A 35-year-old man, identified as M.Y., was run over by a car driven by a woman in the Halwan area and taken to Kuwaiti Hospital.

Police have launched a probe into the incident and the driver has been taken into police custody for questioning.
