Sharjah/Ajman: The Eid Al Adha holidays witnessed 25 traffic accidents in Sharjah, with four deaths and 24 injuries.

Ajman witnessed 313 traffic accidents and 613 speed offences in the same period, from October 3 to 7.

Among the serious accidents in Sharjah was a collision of two cars along a side road leading to the Sharjah-Maliha Road which resulted in the death of one passenger and injury to others.

A collision between two other cars at Al Thameed Road resulted in one of the cars rolling over several times and subsequently killing the driver.

Colonel Abdallah Bin Amer, Director of the Central Operations at Sharjah Police, said that the majority of reported accidents were a result of reckless driving. Motorists also failed to abide by traffic rules.

“Fatal accidents are mainly caused by over speeding, wrongful overtaking of other cars, a failure to keep an adequate distance with other cars and talking on mobile phones. People must drive with their full concentration on the road and avoid any factor that can lead to distracting them,” he warned.

All the accidents recorded in Ajman were minor.
