Ajman: A bus carrying 18 workers flipped over after it was hit by another vehicle on Shaikh Zayed Road in Ajman.
All occupants of the bus sustained injuries in the accident on Wednesday evening, said Major Saif Al Falasi, director of Ajman Police’s traffic department.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained serious injuries while the injuries sustained by the 18 workers ranged from minor to moderate, police said.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that slammed into the bus was speeding and was not paying attention on the road, causing the vehicle to veer onto the pavement before colliding with the bus.
Maj Al Falasi said the accident caused a traffic jam as bus driver was left wedged in the damaged vehicle until a civil defence team extricated him by cutting through its front section.
“Motorists must always stay focused on the road and take precautions by wearing their seat belts and abiding by speed limits,” Maj Al Falasi said. “They should never be distracted when they are on the road for their safety and the safety of others.”
