According to officials from Dubai Police traffic department, six people sustained minor to moderate injures in a three-vehicle collision that took place at 1pm on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road.

Police said the accident took place on the way to Sharjah when a heavy vehicle driven by a Pakistani man swerved across the road and hit a taxi before landing on the cement road barriers. The vehicle then hit another car on the opposite side of the road.

The incident caused a huge traffic jam in both directions.

On Saturday, a four-year-old Indian girl and an 18-year-old Indian woman sustained minor injuries in a parking area in front of a house in Dubai.

Police said the accident took place at 4.30pm when a Pakistani van driver hit two stationary cars. The victims, who were sitting in one of the cars, were taken to hospital.

Also on Saturday, a 28-year-old Egyptian Dubai Water and Electricity Authority worker sustained minor injures when he was run over by a pick-up being driven by a 35-year-old Indian. Police said the victim had been jaywalking near a zebra crossing.
