Manama: Airport securities in the southern Saudi airport of Jazan have removed an Egyptian woman passenger from a plane after she threatened to blow it up.

The passenger was reportedly told that she could not take her oversized carry-on bag inside the plane with her and that she would have to hand it over to the crew.

However, she refused and got into an argument with a steward to allow her to carry the bag onboard.

When the steward insisted that only carry-on suitcases that met the size standards would be allowed inside, she threatened she would blow the plane up if her bag was taken away from her, Saudi news site Sabq reported on Thursday.
The pilot contacted the airport police and the plane was taken to an isolated area of the airport.

An inspection of the plane and the luggage proved there was no threat. The passenger was removed nevertheless and the plane was allowed to take off.

Online users said that the woman should be punished for causing the ridiculous scene that delayed the plan and wasted the time of the other travellers.

However, several users said that the woman should not be severely punished arguing that she may have be driven to exasperation and made the threat thinking that the bag would remain at the airport and that she would never see it again.
