A Saudi man who wanted to reconcile with his angry wife, who worked as a teacher, sneaked into the school teachers' room and decorated it with messages of love and passion.
He put a large cake in the middle and scattered roses and petals as well as banknotes on the floor. He also left a gold necklace and sweets on tables to express his love and ask his wife, a teacher at the school, to forgive him and accept his bid for reconciliation.
The unusual expression of love was filmed and posted on social media, making it a hit.
However, media users were upset that a girls' school be turned into a show over a private family matter and harshly criticized the man.
The authorities were not amused either, and the education district in Al Jouf launched an investigation.
The probe concluded on Thursday that the husband was an employee in the security and safety department of the education district and that he used his position to sneak into the school after official hours to decorate the room lavishly in his bid to win back the heart of his sweetheart.
The school principal who the next day discovered the grandiose message removed all the items and informed the education district, Saudi news site Al Marsad reported.
"We support romance and romantic acts, but we do not tolerate the use of schools as a vehicle for messages of love," one social media user said.
Another said that the school must be fully respected, and not used as a locale for messages of love and reconciliations, no matter how romantic they may seem.
