Manama: Social media users in Saudi Arabia have called for the arrest and punishment of a driver after a video showing him transporting three students in a car boot went viral on the internet.
The video showed the three elementary school girls sitting in the boot with their legs dangling while the car was moving across a town in Bisha in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

According to media users, the girls were being driven from their elementary school in the Khalidiya neighbourhood to their homes at the end of the school day.
“This is a crime and action should be taken against all those who have allowed this to happen,” Khalilo, a blogger, commented. “No excuse whatsoever can be accepted for this abuse of innocence,” he said.
Fajr, another blogger, said that putting the girls’ lives at risk could be avoided by allowing women to drive.
“If mothers were able to drive, they would take their daughters to school in the morning and bring them home at the end of the day,” she said. “They would never allow their daughters to be driven in such a risky and shameful manner,” she added.
Ahmad said that traffic policemen should identify the driver and have him arrested for his reckless and foolish behaviour.
“This calls for a serious investigation to understand how it was allowed to happen,” he said. “It is against the law and it should be addressed quickly.”
