Manama: Saudis have poured scorn on a report claiming that a “famous racehorse with an estimated value of more than $12 million would be euthanized after it was allegedly caught in sexual intercourse with another stallion.”
According to the report, the four-year-old stallion was allegedly caught on two separate occasions while it was engaged in sexual intercourse with another male. “When this was reported to the authorities, the horse was rapidly taken away and isolated,” the report posted on US and French sites claimed.
The decision was endorsed by the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, the report claimed, adding that it signed the horse’s death warrant in front of the television cameras, Saudi site Sabq reported.
“This was meant to send a clear message that homosexuality, under any form, would not be tolerated in the kingdom,” the report alleged. The execution was scheduled for November 20.
Almost a dozen American and European horse owners have offered to buy the horse in order to prevent its execution, but so far, the kingdom has refused to negotiate.
“I thought they were capable of better lies and allegations,” Mashael, a social media user, said. “This is a far-fetched claim that cannot go far,” she said.
For Tariq, “lies should have a minimum of sense in order to be believed, unless they are targeting non-knowledgeable or gullible people who would not attempt to check the claims.”
“I truly wonder what makes such Western sites against us,” Ahmad Anas, a blogger, said. “Fabricating incredible lies, concocting baseless reports and targeting Saudis, Arabs and Muslims have become a way of life for them. It is really deplorable. They should come to their senses and respect people’s cognitive levels,” he said.
However, Khalid called upon Saudis to ignore the baseless allegations and go on with their lives.
“They are so ridiculously futile, so absurdly frivolous that they should not be dignified with a comment,” he said. “Even if they are meant as a joke, it is in bad taste,” he said.
