Riyadh: A Saudi woman broke down as she told members of the Shura Council how she had unsuccessfully searched for a job for the past 15 years.

The woman was part of a group of citizens who met with members of the council this week to discuss several issues, including unemployment. She broke down while addressing Dr. Abdullah Al Al Shaikh, Chairman, via closed circuit television, according to a report in Al Hayat Arabic newspaper.

It was the first time that women had been allowed to present their petitions to the Council at its headquarters. "My father and brother, I hope you deliver me from my suffering. All I want is a job," she said, when her turn came to speak to Al Shaikh and members of the Council's Human Rights and Petitions Committee.

The woman from the governorate of Sharoura said she only wanted her voice heard.

However, she could not complete what she wanted to say and started crying. Women present in the hall tried to calm her.
