Manama: A Saudi Civil Defence rescue officer has died after he fell from a helicopter during the celebration of the World Civil Defence Day in the capital Riyadh.

Reports said that First Class Pvt Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al Qah’tani was not able to survive the severe injuries and fractures he suffered when he fell on Saturday morning in the parking lot of Gharnata Mall. 

Local daily Al Sharq said that the victim fell to his death from a height of around 250 metres.

An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the tragedy.

Al Qah’tani  was planning to get married next month after finishing his two-year deployment in Riyadh and return to Abha, Okaz newspaper said.
