Manama: One of the four Daesh members killed during a standoff with the Saudi authorities in Makkah on Thursday was Saeed Ayedh Al Shahrani, wanted for his role in the bombing of a mosque in Assir.
The attack in August at a mosque inside the Special Forces headquarters killed 15 people.
Al Shahrani, 46, was also wanted in relation with the explosion at a mosque in Najran in October and the assassination of a retired security officer in the Abu Arish area of Jazan region, bordering Yemen, a spokesperson for the interior ministry said on Friday afternoon.
The spokesperson was giving details about the operation in which two terrorists were killed by the police and two others blew themselves up by detonating their explosive belts.
The spokesperson named the second terrorist as Mubarak Abdullah Fahad Al Dossari, 25. He too was on the wanted list for security-related charges.
The third terrorist was Mohammad Sulaiman Al Saqri Al Enezi, 46. He was wanted for his role in the armed attack on worshippers at a mosque in Al Ahsa, the explosion of Al Anood Mosque in Damman in the Eastern Province, and the assault on Imam Ali Mosque in Qateef. The spokesperson said that Al Enezi was an expert in the use of explosives.
Adel Abdullah Ebrahim Al Mijmaj, 27, was the fourth terrorist named by the police, He was arrested four years ago for his role in the events that unfolded in Al Qaseem to demand the release of detainees.
The spokespersons aid that Al Mijmaj had been hiding and that he had moved around disguised as a woman and wearing an explosives belt.
A search of the hideout of the terrorists found two ready-to-use belts with explosives, 15 explosive devices, four Kalashnikovs, two guns and a large quantity of ammunition.
