Dubai: A television station dedicated to Farsi speakers began on Wednesday to broadcast live from Haj premises.

The station’s moderator Adel Al Barriah told Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the channel would provide valuable information about Haj rituals in Farsi.

The broadcasts will also highlight Saudi Arabia’s strong efforts to provide top-notch services to pilgrims. The 24-hour live broadcast targets more than 130 million Farsi speakers around the globe.

SPA has been posting news in Farsi since the launch of reforms within the state-run news agency that saw the introduction of several languages for international outreach.

The agency is using its 19 offices in Saudi Arabia and abroad to provide a coverage of the annual Haj rituals in reports, news and pictures in Arabic, English, French, Farsi, Russian and Chinese.

In February, SPA launched a Farsi channel in Telegram application.

SPA President Abdullah Bin Fahad Al Husain said the channel was one of SPA news products that send out media messages by targeting specific segments through the use of modern technology.

“We have launched the service to keep abreast with the technology and broadcast news and other press items to reach the segment of Farsi language speakers through Telegram application,” he said.

The channel is a complement to the SPA approach for effective communication in various digital platforms to facilitate the delivery of the latest news and developments. It is also part of SPA strategy to communicate with social media users, he added.
