Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has temporarily banned the import of live birds, hatching eggs and chicks from the Republic of Vietnam, due to the highly pathogenic avian flu disease.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, the Director-General of the Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine, Dr Osama Bin Abdullah Al Saleh said that the ban was based on the warning issued by the World Organisation for Animal Health, which includes the breaking out of cases of the avian influenza.
