Manama: Saudi Arabia has denied reports that King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud would visit Russia next month.

“In response to media reports about the visit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Russian Federation, no date has been set, and all the claims about the date are not true,” a spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs said late on Sunday.

Last Wednesday, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov was quoted as saying that King Salman’s visit to Russia was planned for mid-March. However, Ushakov told RIA Novosti that the agenda has yet to be set.

King Salman met Russian president Vladimir Putin in November on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in the Turkish resort city of Antalya.

The two leaders discussed the Syrian crisis and the conflict in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia is leading a coalition against Houthi militants, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

King Salman also called for intensifying international efforts in the fight against terrorism, the Saudi official news agency said.
