Manama: No one was injured in a fire that broke out on Saturday morning in the Haram Plaza mall market in eastern Riyadh, a spokesman for the civil defence has said.

The blaze was reported at 6:44am as people were resuming their work and students going back to school following the two-day weekend on Thursday and Friday.

According to Mohammad Bin Mulfi Al Hammadi, the spokesman of the Directorate of Civil Defence in Riyadh, 12 field divisions, 10 support units, five rescue teams, a helicopter, and an emergency force of the civil defence have been deploying efforts since morning to put out the blaze.

The mall is promoted by its owners as a “leading lifestyle retailer that has earned a reputation for being a leader in the premium lifestyle market with premium brands for kids, women, men, toys and furnishing.”

The mall says it operates in three segments of the retail value chain — wholesale (procurement of stocks), operations and distribution (warehousing and transportation) and sales (physical store operations, online sales and other channels).
