Manama: Saudi police have arrested a man who reportedly wanted to kill a radio host for ignoring his messages on Twitter. The man who was carrying a gun wanted to go inside the offices of radio and television broadcaster MBC in Riyadh and look for MBC FM talk hostess Ghada Al Ali, local news site Sabq reported on Sunday.

“Thank God, I am fine,” Ghada later said.

“I was on air when I noticed that an employee shut the door. When I asked about the reasons, I was told that everything was fine. After the programme, they informed me that they detained a man armed with a gun who was looking for me to kill me,” she told Sabq.

She added that the incident on Saturday evening was being investigated.

“I heard that he told investigators that I had ignored him and that I had not replied to his messages on my Twitter account. I was able to go home normally, but my family has been shaken by this incident,” she said.

Bloggers expressed full sympathy with Ghada and questioned the man’s sanity, speculating that he was suffering from mental issues that needed to be addressed promptly.
