Riyadh: The conference hall at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) headquarters in Riyadh was on Thursday named after Prince Saud Al Faisal, the former foreign minister of Saudi Arabia.

The ceremony was attended by the foreign ministers of the six member states of the GCC – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The ministers paid rich tributes to the urbane prince who led the Saudi diplomacy for 40 years, making him the world’s longest serving foreign minister.

Prince Saud, universally well-regarded in the diplomatic community, died in July 2015 at the age of 75.
