The vehicle after the fatal accident - Al Sharq

Manama: Four people were killed and three seriously injured in a freak road accident when their vehicle hit a stray camel in Saudi Arabia.

The victims were members of the same family and were driving on a seemingly unlit road near the Saudi capital Riyadh.

Two people died at the scene of the accident and the other two at the Dawadmi General Hospital where they were taken for treatment. The three injured people are still under observation at the hospital, local Arabic daily Al Sharq reported on Thursday.

According to the report, stray camels in the rural area have caused several accidents and residents have been calling for erecting fences to keep the animals away from the roads and highways, particularly at night.

A large number of students and teachers as well as employees use the busy road to go to school and work, they said.
