Riyadh: Sunday (December 4) will be Muharram 8 on the Hijri calendar, instead of Muharram 9, according to a clarification issued by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The court announced that Tuesday (December 6) will be the 10th of Muharram according to the “Umm Al Qurra Calendar”.

Earlier, November 26 was announced as the first day of Muharram, and November 25 the last day of Dhu Al Hijja.

The change was made due to lack of evidence in the sighting of the crescent of Muharram on November 25, Friday night according to the Umm Al Qurra Calendar, a statement from the court said.
