Manama: An Egyptian groom left his bride at an airport in Saudi Arabia after he discovered that she was not the one he wanted to marry.
According to report in Saudi Arabia, the Egyptian expatriate wanted to get married and informed his brother back home about his intention.
The brother, keen on his sibling’s marriage, sent him the picture of a woman, telling him she could be his wife if he agreed to marry her.
The expatriate approved and gave the go-ahead for the marriage procedures by proxy, and the families celebrated the happy event.
However, when the groom went to the airport to welcome his bride in her bridal dress, as is customary within the Egyptian community, he was shocked upon seeing her and fled the arrival area at the airport, Saudi news site Al Marsad reported on Wednesday.
The bride, shocked by the unexpected turn of the events, did not know what to do. People who saw her thought that the groom had stolen something from her and chased him. They too were shocked when they discovered that he was the groom and was attempting to run away from the bride.
The woman reportedly wanted to file for divorce.
