Dubai: Royal Jet, the Abu Dhabi-based private jet provider, said it is suspending all flights to and from Doha with immediate effect and until further notice after a number of Arab countries announced they are severing diplomatic ties with Qatar.

In a statement, Royal Jet said that it took its decision in line with UAE government directives to cut ties with Qatar.

The move follows similar ones by other UAE carriers, with Etihad Airways, flydubai, Emirates, and Air Arabia saying a day earlier they would suspend flights to and from the Qatari capital starting June 6. All four carriers said the suspension is until further notice, and are offering full refunds to passengers with existing tickets.

The suspension comes after the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen said they are cutting ties with Qatar amid escalating tensions over accusations that Doha sponsors terrorism.

The UAE government on Monday said it is closing all airspace and seaports in the country for Qataris, and that it is banning all Qatari means of transportation from coming to or leaving the Emirates.
