Manama: The Qatari leadership should correct its course of action and fulfil its commitments in order to eliminate all practices aimed at undermining the security and safety of our countries and threatening the unity of our societies, Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa said on Wednesday.

“The fulfilment of the commitments will help restore our relations to their previous levels for the benefit of all,” King Hamad said as he arrived in the Red Sea city of Jeddah.

“We are pleased to meet the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and we would like to renew our thanks and appreciation for the support enjoyed by the Kingdom of Bahrain to maintain its security and stability in the light of the Qatari-Iranian interference that extended over several centuries. Interference by the Qatari leadership have also been extended to our brothers in the Arab and Islamic countries, which left us with no choice but to take measures to preserve the security and stability of our countries,” he said.

Bahrain on Monday was the first country to announce that it was severing its relations with Qatar in order to protect its national security and stability.

King Hamad said that the collective steps taken by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt were “necessary to confront the menaces to our peoples and the threats to weaken our countries and undermine their stability.”

“The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to a firm approach from which it has never departed since ancient times,” King Hamad said. “This approach affirms that Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are an integral part of everything that reinforces ranks, unifies discourses and positions, enhances the strength of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and consolidates progress towards further development and prosperity.”

King Hamad said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was highly appreciated internationally for his noble position and clear contribution to the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations and his pioneering role in promoting cooperation across the world and coexistence between different cultures and peoples based on the values of tolerance, mutual respect and peace for all.

The Bahraini monarch hailed the outcome of the historic summit hosted in Saudi capital Riyadh last month between GGC leaders and US President Donald Trump as well as the Arab-Islamic American summit.

“Bahrain seeks well-being and peace for all and it works diligently and with all its power and determination to achieve both. It always stands with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based on its deep faith and strong confidence that this is the sure guarantee of security and stability and of the ability to confront all manifestations of chaos and attempts to spread it,” he said.

King Hamad will go to Egypt from Saudi Arabia.
