Manama: Views on social and environmental issues of concern to the young generation all over the world will be the focus of a conference to be held in Qatar next week.

Doha-based Reach Out To Asia (Rota) said that 350 young men and women from Qatar and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries would take part in the fourth Conference of the Youth Empowerment (Empower 2012), to be held from April 19 to 21.

Mohammad Abdullah Saleh, Director of Rota Community Development said the conference programme would feature the key issues of leadership, service learning and global citizenship with a special focus on environmental issues and linking sports to education, skills development and Arabic language.

The three-day event incorporates a mixture of panel discussions, speeches and seminars as well as small workshops, site visits and student public debates to be held at the beginning of the conference, Qatar News Agency reported.
