Qatari national pays QR13.7 million (Dh13.81 million) to own 55555 licence plate
Manama: A Qatari national has paid QR13.7 million (Dh13.81 million) for a car licence plate.
According to Al Sharq daily, the Qatari paid the amount equivalent to $3.7 million at an auction to own the 55555 licence plate.
The bidding on Sunday evening started at QR4 million (Dh4.03 million).
In 2008, UAE businessman Saeed Abdul Gafour Khouri paid Dh52.2 million ($14.3 million) for an Abu Dhabi licence plate labelled "1" at an auction, making it the world's most expensive licence plate.
