Manama: A photography competition that aims to focus on the critical role of family in community development has been launched by the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI).
The ‘Your Family, Your Lens’ photography competition, in collaboration with the Qatar Photographic Society, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family.
Organisers said that it also aims to examine the challenges faced by families and to highlight the crucial contribution they make to the progression of society.
DIFI, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and the organising committee said the artistic endeavour was open to the public and that there were cash prizes of over QAR30,000 (Dh30,262) up for grabs.
“In line with DIFI’s main objective of focusing on the pivotal role of families, the organising committee believes that photographs can successfully capture this meaningful message by reflecting personal thoughts and aspirations, while painting an expressive picture of families,” the organisers said.
“Participants should ensure that the pictures submitted are of the highest quality and shed light on their unique artistic vision. The winning images, as well as the best photographic entries, will be displayed in the exhibition Area during the Doha Conference 2014 taking place on April 16-17.”
The first prize will be QR10,000, the second prize QR7,000, the third prize QR5,000; and the fourth prize QR4,000. Winners who rank from 5th up to 15th place will each be awarded QR1,000.
According to the organisers, the deadline for entries to the photography competition is March 31.
