Manama: Aviation leaders are to meet to discuss the future of their industry at the Doha Aviation Summit next month, a Qatar Civil Aviation Authority spokesman said.

The three-day summit, starting October 30, is expected to be attended by more than 200 representatives from airports, airlines, civil aviation authorities, and government agencies from around the world.
It is being hosted by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.

Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi said: “The aviation world has changed significantly over the past few months”.
“With the worst of economic crisis behind us, now is the perfect time to look to the future," he said.

"The summit will continue the theme ‘vision for limitless skies’ and will concentrate on opening up opportunities for growth between the Arab states and the international aviation market."

The Doha Aviation Summit would also address the volcanic ash disruption and its impact on aviation organisations outside of Europe.

Other topics to be debated at the summit included the formulation and implementation of a sustainable regulatory framework, route management and the Middle East airport expansion projects.

The summit would also discuss human resources in the Arab world, financial risks and management challenges, the integration of alternative fuel research and implementation for mass transport, and the rising cost of fuel.
