First women only cinema in the Middle East to open in Qatar
Qatar is set to open the first ‘women only' cinema in the Middle East on Thursday
The cinema will be located in Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) Ladies Club and will show the latest releases that are screened in other theatres in Doha.
The films for the 154-seat cinema will be provided by the Qatar Cinema & Film Distribution Co, which operates some of the largest cinema outlets in Doha, Qatari media reported on Monday.
Three films will be shown every weekend (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at 3, 5 and 7pm and an extra film will be screened on Saturday for children who will have to be accompanied by a female relative.
Listings of the films to be screened will be available on the websites of Qatar Cinema and Film Distribution, Aspire Zone Foundation, and Qatar Happening, while the schedule of films to be screened will be known two weeks in advance. However, the presentation schedule will change according to the popularity of a particular film.
