Manama: A 24-year-old Filipino receptionist in Qatar returned QR50,000 (Dh50,442) in cash, a QR200,000 cheque and an iPhone he found in a pouch on the road.

Jayson Castillo was reportedly on foot to work when he saw a black leather pouch at a roundabout in the Qatari capital Doha. The fitness gym receptionist who arrived in Qatar recently picked it up and sought a friend’s help seeing the cash and mobile in the pouch, local daily Gulf Times reported on Thursday.

The friend, a resident of Qatar, told him to go to the police station where officers informed the pouch owner.

The Qatari man said that he thought the pouch had probably fallen off his car when one of its doors was accidentally opened while making a turn at the roundabout. The Qatari who was not named added that the cash and the cheque were meant to pay the staff at an establishment, the daily reported.
