Manama: Qatar's customs officials have seized a huge quantity of drugs packed inside slaughtered ducks carried by an Egyptian passenger arriving in the country.

According to Qatari daily Al Raya, Doha International Airport police had suspicions about a passenger and searched his luggage thoroughly.

They found the drug stuffed in the carcasses. However, the passenger, who was not named, said he had no knowledge about the drugs and told the police that neighbours in his hometown in Egypt had given him the ducks to hand them over as gifts to their relatives working in Doha.

The people, who were supposed to receive the "gifts", were arrested and they allegedly admitted their role in the trafficking.
