Manama: It is back to school for around 158,000 students in Qatar who resume classes on Sunday following the summer vacation.

Admissions for the new academic year 2011-12 have been successfully completed as per the planning of the Student's Admission Committee at the Supreme Education Council (SEC), officials said.

"SEC has taken measures to ensure parents do not have to face any problems this year in getting their kids hassle-free admission in the school of their choice," they said.

"The parents were given more choices of schools in their neighbourhood for new admissions, so that they do not have to commute long distances to reach schools. Several new measures were adopted this year to allow the parents the liberty to select the school of their choice."
