Dubai: Al Jazeera Television will launch its Urdu language channel in cooperation with the Dubai based ARY Digital Network targeting over 110 million Urdu speakers globally.

ARY Digital, the first private Urdu channel targeting an audience mainly in Pakistan, the UAE and other Gulf countries, and also in India, the UK, Europe and the US, has signed an agreement with Qatar based Al Jazeera TV to launch Al Jazeera Urdu International.

"Initially we are targeting the Urdu-speaking population in Pakistan, then the service will spread to the subcontinent as well as the United States and Europe", said Hamad Yehya Al Nuaimi, Al Jazeera Channel's Marketing Director.

Salman Iqbal, President and Chief Executive Officer of ARY Digital, said ARY will pool its resources with Al Jazeera's Urdu service.
