Muscat: Two Omanis were stabbed and robbed by a four-member gang that barged into their home while they were holidaying in Egypt last Thursday.

One of the victim sustained severe stab injuries in the neck, while the other escaped with minor injuries.

The knife-wielding gang of four, who forced their way into the Omanis’ holiday home in Kafar Taharmas of Giza governorate outside Cairo, beat the tourists and robbed some 5,000 Egyptian pounds in cash, seven mobile phones and a laptop, according to Egyptian local media. The victims were stabbed when they tried to resist the robbery attempt. The accused fled the scene.

The victims were admitted to a hospital, and the Omani with neck injuries underwent a surgery and is reported to be in a stable condition, an official from the Omani embassy in Cairo told Gulf News.

The gang members with criminal records were later arrested and the weapons used for the attack were seized from them, Giza police were quoted in the local media as saying.

In 2014, two thieves burgled an Omani student’s flat in Cairo and stole some cash and a laptop.
