Muscat: Two Asian workers were killed after inhaling poisonous gas at an under-construction building in Jabal Akhdar on Sunday morning, according to the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA).

They were burning coal to heat up the room as outside temperatures dropped to 10 degree Celsius.

They suffocated because the room had no ventilation, and the bodies were found by medical workers.

Jabal Akdhar, which is part of Oman’s Al Hajar Mountains range, witnesses a drastic dip in temperatures from mid-December to February every year.

Authorities have advised people to use proper ventilation in order to avoid suffocating.
