Muscat: Two Asian suspects were arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) on charges of possessing and trafficking narcotics.

Officers from the Directorate of Narcotics Control raided a house in Nizwa and arrested the two suspects following a tip-off, according to a ROP press release. The investigating team found a large quantity of heroin, some cash and mobile phones that were apparently used to coordinate operations of a network of drug dealers in the country.

Both the accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.

The police have urged citizens as well as residents to cooperate with authorities and report any information related to illegal activities on 9999 or the hotline 1444.

Police also arrested another Asian suspect on bootlegging charges. “The suspect was arrested for selling alcohol from a house in Nizwa,” a spokesperson for the ROP said, adding that a large amount of illicit alcohol was found in the house of the accused.
