Muscat: Three Emirati family members, including two women and a Saudi national died on the spot when their Land Cruiser hit a camel about 50 –km before Thumrait in southern Oman on Thursday afternoon.

“The family was headed to Salalah when they hit a camel at around 2.15 in the afternoon,” a spokesman for the Royal Oman Police (ROP) told Gulf News on Saturday.

Safiyan Bin Salem Al Minhali, who was driving the car died along with his two daughters, Rashma and Shamsha while third daughter Biama is critically injured and admitted to Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.

The Saudi national, who also died in the crash, is identified as Khwadim Bin Salem Al Minhali.

Meanwhile, in another accident on Saturday morning, an Indian and an Omani were killed in an accident on the winding mountain road from Baushar to Amerat in Muscat.

“Four vehicles including a truck were involved in the early morning accident,” the ROP spokesman said, adding that two Omanis sustained injuries. “One was sent home after treatment for minor injuries while the other is admitted for treatment to moderate injuries,” he said.
