Muscat: Omani workers of BEB Consortium (Bechtel-Enka-BEC) removed the blockade of the Muscat International Airport project site late in the afternoon, after agreeing to talk with the Consortium management.
“Yes, gates are now open but we don’t know what has been decided between the striking Omani workers and the management,” an expatriate worker told Gulf News but preferred not to be named as company has advised all workers not to talk to the media after strike last month by expatriate workers.
There was no response from the management till evening although Fawziya Al Mashyki, Public Relations Manager, had promised to get back with details.
Last month, around 2,000 workers went on strike demanding overtime according to their original agreement. However, the workers had to end strike after management insisted on following Omani Labour Laws. Some of the workers, however, chose to go back and not accept the management offer while some were sent back.
