Seven Omani women designers to parade their creation
The best garment from each designer will be selected and put on auction, proceeds of which will go to a charity that supports development of women
Muscat: A fashion show featuring Omani Women's Fashion Trends (OWFT), will be held at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel on October 13 to mark Omani Women's Day that falls on October 17.
"The OWFT is a fashion event for the women of the country to showcase the progress and achievements of Omani women in the field of fashion," said Shruti Chowdhary, Director of Light & Shadow Enterprises, in a press release.
Last year in October 2010, Light & Shadow came up with a concept of a women's event with the first edition of the first OWFT with four fashion designers showcasing their works in the presence of a select all-woman audience at the Al Bustan Hotel.
Shruti said the show based on the theme of the rainbow will feature the works of seven designers: Afaf Ismaili, Hala Al Balushi, Hanna Al Raisi, Hazar Al Zadjali, Maitha Al Harthy, Shibly Maksood Ali Nusrat and Wafa Basalwad. "Each of these designers will showcase their creations around one colour of the rainbow.
These designers have not had an opportunity to present their garments to a large and discerning audience and OWFT 2011 will help them reach out and market.
The best garment from each designer will be selected and put on auction, proceeds of which will go to a charity that supports development of women.
