Series of events to mark India's independence
The Indian embassy in Muscat has planned a series of events to celebrate the 61st anniversary of India's Independence Day on Thursday.
Muscat: The Indian embassy in Muscat has planned a series of events to celebrate the 61st anniversary of India's Independence Day on Thursday.
The Indian Ambassador to Oman, Anil Wadhwa, will preside over the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Indian School Darsait at 7.30am followed by a similar ceremony at an open house at the Embassy premises at 10.30am, where the ambassador will read out the Indian President's message. A tree planting ceremony will also be held.
A concert will be held in the afternoon. It will be choreographed and supervised by Shubarna Bose, a well-known Odissi dancer in Oman. A unique fusion of Indian and jazz music will cap the day's celebrations.
