Muscat: Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed has pardoned 215 convicts to mark the Eid Al Adha celebrations, according to a Royal Oman Police press release on Wednesday.
“There are 117 Omani convicts, and 98 inmates are of different nationalities,” a spokesman for the ROP said.
He added that the Sultan, who is currently touring Musandam region in his royal yacht, pardoned prisoners who were serving prison terms for various offences. The backgrounds of convicts and their family conditions were taken into account before granting them amnesty.
