Muscat: An Omani was found dead in his grocery shop in the Russayl Industrial area of Muscat on Wednesday at 10.15am.

The victim was identified as Humaid Al Siyabi, who was murdered by his cousin and brother-in-law with a knife, an official at the Royal Oman Police (ROP) told Gulf News.

The accused headed to the victim’s shop in a fit of rage and murdered his cousin over a family dispute, said the official.

He stabbed Al Siyabi more than ten times and left the scene.

The accused had recently divorced his wife, who was the victim’s sister.

The Seeb Primary Court recently issued a verdict in favour of his divorced wife and his children by handing her the family home and required him to pay a monthly allowance to his wife. “So, the accused went into a rage and murdered her brother,” the official explained.

Later, the police arrested the accused and he will be forwarded soon to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.
