Muscat: The body of an Omani national was found dead near his vehicle in Wadi Mawal province on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Humaid Al Siyabi, a resident of Nakhal province who went missing on Monday evening, an official at Oman’s Police told Gulf News.

The body is still in the forensic laboratory in Muscat for further examination, said the official. According to the initial investigation, the deceased appeared to have been murdered as some bruises were found on the body. “The investigation is under way,” said the official.

The deceased recently won a cash award from a camel race held in North Batinah governorate.

Separately, the official affirmed that the husband of an Indian woman murdered in Salalah in April and a Pakistani national are still being held in custody.

“On April 21 in the southern city of Salalah, a nurse from Kerala, Chikku Robert, was found murdered. Our mission in Muscat has informed us that the Royal Oman Police is currently investigating her death,” said External Affairs Ministry of India.

There were only six recorded murders in 2015, according to ROP figures.
