Muscat: A national was arrested for murdering his friend after a heated argument last week in Rustaq province.

An official at the Royal Oman Police (ROP), told Gulf News that the accused attacked his friend with a brick he found at a construction site.

The victim died immediately as the brick caused inernal bleeding, according to the forensic test.

The accused was under the influence of alcohol when he committed his crime.

The body of the 40-year-old victim was found at the construction site the next day.

According to residents in Rustaq, the two men were very close friends.

“I saw them walking together in the evening before the incident took place”, Mohammad Al Nasri, a resident of Rustaq, said.

The accused has been forwarded to the Public Prosecution for trial.

He could face up to seven years in jail at least, according to Oman Penal Law.
