Muscat: Sleuths from the Criminal Investigation Department arrested six people, including three Asian women, from the southern city of Salalah, about 1,000km south of Muscat, on charges of prostitution, according to a Royal Oman Police (ROP) press release on Monday.
“Acting on a tip-off, the police officers raided an apartment in Salalah and caught the accused red-handed,” a spokesman for the ROP’s Public Relations Department said.
He added that all six were referred to the Public Prosecution.
He pointed out that the police were thankful to citizens and residents who report such criminal activities. “We would advise owners of rented premises to ensure that the property is not used by tenants for any illegal activities,” he urged and asked everyone to report any suspicious activity on 9999.
