Muscat: Oman continued its crackdown on drug traffickers with the arrest of six accused in three cases, according to the Royal Oman Police.

In the first case, the police were tipped off that an Asian passenger arriving at the Muscat International Airport was a member of an international drug cartel and was carrying drugs.
“Officers from the Directorate of Narcotics Control kept a close watch and arrested the suspect,” a police spokesman said.
The suspect, believed to be a Pakistani national, was taken to the ROP Hospital where X-rays revealed that he had swallowed 71 capsules filled with heroin.
In the second case, police arrested four Pakistani nationals in Salalah on charges of smuggling drugs. A raid on their residence led to the recovery of 50 heroin capsules. Officers also recovered cash that the four suspects had earned from the sale of drugs.
The accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
In another case, a suspected trafficker was arrested from Thamrait area with 455 bundles of ‘khat’, a stimulant drug derived from a shrub.
