Muscat: The crackdown against illegal residents in Oman continues with coordinated efforts of the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the Manpower Ministry and the other security agencies in the country. “We have arrested 631 infiltrators during the month of May,” a spokesman for the ROP said, adding that the authorities deported 419 illegal expatriates back to their country last month.

“All the necessary legal steps were taken, including coordination with the concerned embassies before the illegal residents were deported,” he added.

He urged all residents to cooperate with the police in their campaign against the illegal residents in the country. “People should promptly alert police about any suspicion about illegal resident by calling police on 9999,” he said, warning that harbouring an illegal or helping someone enter Oman illegally was an offence.
