Muscat: Yusuf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah, Oman’s Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, has called on regional players to resolve all ‘internal disputes’ through dialogue.

Talking to visiting foreign media at the Diplomatic Club on Wednesday, the Omani Minister reiterated that the relations among the GCC States with Iran were "good" and witnessing a continuous cooperation.

On the issue of coexistence with Iran, Yusuf Bin Alawi said that Iran is a big country and a neighbour with over four thousand years of civilisation, and the developed world should view it from this perspective. He said that Oman has always sought to support the stability of the region and avoid all forms of tension.

He talked about a number of issues including the issue of the Middle East and the regional and international disputes, and the relation of the GCC States with Iran, says a report from ONA.

He believes that all these issues can not be solved without resorting to dialogue, and that all internal disputes must be solved first so as to overcome the major and most important disputes.

He stressed Oman’s continuous keenness for enhancing its political relations and economic interests with peoples of different countries in the world, particularly the Arab countries to achieve the common economic and social interests. “It is based on mutual respect to accomplish joint cooperation.”

Oman’s Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs affirmed that Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed is always keen to see brothers overcoming their disputes whose causes are usually simple and can be solved.

Also addressing the media was Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, he said that Oman planned to utilise the nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. “This programme (Nuclear energy) is under study as it is a long-term programme that requires a lot of in-depth studies,” hew added.

He added that Oman was in close relationship with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in this area.
