Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have arrested a suspected drug peddler alleged to have connections with an international gang involved in drug smuggling.

“An Asian expatriate was caught from Birka town about 100km north of Muscat following a tip off,” a spokesman for the ROP’s Public Relations Department said.

He added that a large quantity of narcotics and cash were found in the possession of the accused.

The accused has been handed over to the Public Prosecution for further legal procedures.

He urged residents to cooperate with the ROP and report any suspicious activity in their area by contacting police on 9999 or 1444.
